Humidity slows drying—and that matters
Fresh locs need to dry completely. Toronto summers add moisture to the air that keeps roots damp longer. We teach clients to extend drying time with a hood dryer or low heat at the roots when needed.
Night routine changes in July and August
A breathable loc sock or satin scarf still matters. In humid weeks, we may suggest a light clarifying rinse sooner than your winter schedule to prevent buildup from sweat and product.
Swimming and lakeside weekends
If you swim, rinse with clean water immediately after and schedule a maintenance visit if you notice tightening at the roots feels uneven. Salt water and chlorine both affect young locs differently—we will tailor advice at your appointment.
When to call the salon between visits
Itching, persistent odor, or sudden flattening at the crown are signals to book—not to wait six weeks. Book maintenance at SheBeenHair on Wicksteed Avenue.
